Avinity, formerly known as Twin City Christian Homes or TCCH, was founded in 1970 by a group of individuals from the Minnesota Baptist Conference with a vision to build a retirement home to serve older adults in a Christian setting. They realized that dream in 1983 with the opening of a health care center in Eden Prairie. The following year brought the opening of the first senior housing community for people with lower incomes. Since then, Avinity has developed and operated a wide range of housing and supportive services for older adults. Today, Avinity owns and manages independent senior living communities, assisted living and supportive services for older adults at all income levels.
Avinity owns and/or manages twelve senior living communities in Minnesota:
Edendale Residence of Eden Prairie, a 61-unit independent living rental community, opened to provide subsidized housing for older adults.
TCCH began providing management services to the municipal owners of Blaine Courts of Blaine, a 54-unit independent living community.
TCCH opened a 105-unit independent living rental community in Shoreview, Scandia Shores of Shoreview.
