A poem to help us face the next season

Oct 6, 2020

“Each season holds its blessing.”

I pause and ponder what

As I feel the chill winds blowing

And hear the dried leaves crunch!

I marvel at autumn’s beauty

The brilliant colors ‘round,

The cool crisp air, the harvest’s abundance

Remind me of God’s rich provision.

I fear that life may be like the seasons

And I don’t want what comes next—

Winter, cold, and bitter wind

Days in isolation!

Help me see the beauty in this season,

I want to enjoy today,

Not worry about tomorrow,

But trust that You’ll be there!

For truth be told, around the bend

Of the year, a seed’s been frozen,

It begins to thaw, the sun shines on

And new life bursts forth again!

“Help me, Lord, to stop the fret

And not borrow from tomorrow,

To value this season in its time

For the next holds even better!”
