Ankle and Wrist Mobility

Your wrists and ankles are so important to your overall mobility! What’s nice about this exercise is that you can do it seated in a chair. Also, this exercise benefits your brain because it incorporates both sides of the body at the same time.

  • Use your left hand and right foot
  • Hold your left arm out in front of you, slightly bent at the elbow
  • Lift your right foot off the floor, and bend at the knee - you can support it with your right hand if you like
  • Moving them at the same time, spell out a word or words “in the air”
  • Switch to your right hand and left foot and do the same

We’ve presented just a few exercises seniors can do to increase their mobility – to maintain as much independence as possible - but there are many others, such as chair yoga and using lightweight dumbbells.  Remember…Motion is lotion!
