In The Moment
Jun 25, 2025
Summer can be the perfect time to enjoy being fully emersed with the gift of being ‘in the moment’. The beauty of the flowers in bloom and the trees swaying in the wind can help us be at peace and to enjoy the very present moment. Years ago, I had a coworker who knew how to be at peace even when her world was crumbling around her. When stresses came her way, she would stand tall with a relaxed smile; pull her shoulders back; walk slowly and go outside to enjoy the beauty of nature. Her cares seemed to melt, and she would return to work calm and collected once again. She knew how to live ‘in the moment.’
The benefits of living in the moment are many. It can free you from anxieties and fears, make your relationships more engaging and happier, help you manage distractions in life and help you focus. Living in the moment offers you a chance for peace of mind and you’ll feel better about yourself.
You can enjoy these benefits of living in the moment in any number of ways. Perhaps one or more of these ideas resonates with you. Consider this list of ways to live ‘in the moment’:
· Take moments throughout the day to breathe slowly
· Look for things to be thankful for
· Show kindness to someone
· Smile and laugh a lot
· Journal your thoughts at the end of the day
· Enjoy the beauty in art
· Appreciate the beauty in nature
· Listen to soothing music
· Savor what you eat
· Make time in your day to be aware of your surroundings using all your senses
· Offer forgiveness and grace to others
· Take time visiting friends
· This list could go on and on…
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Psalm 16:11 ESV
