Lost in Wonder

Jul 1, 2024

Have you ever stopped to think about the wonder and beauty of existence? I marvel at how a leaf forms to its designated shape; or how our bodies heal cuts by sending platelets to a wound. The beauty of nature’s color palate is all around us. Bees and flowers are dependent on each other; how the rays of the sun bring life to each plant; how millions upon millions of galaxies have been rotating through space for billions of years. I love how scientists help us understand life in its smallest and broadest forms. I am humbled to realize that I can never fully comprehend the complexities of nature and equally humbled that we all exist and can enjoy the wonder of life.

This sense of wonder and the mystery of life, with all the wonderous ways we process what we learn through science, may even lead us to take steps of faith in believing in a creator. Or it may even compel you to do your part in the ecology protection around you. So, take time to stop and smell the roses but marvel at all its details. Enjoy time outside and look at the clouds in all their formations. Listen to the birds sing their songs, even if they wake you up at 5:00 in the morning. Humbly realize that all of nature, including mankind, is interdependent on each part of the world around us. We can all start by being thankful and do our part by caring for all the beautiful nature around us.

Yet here is the most marvelous thing to consider:

“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?”

Psalm 8:3-4
