Mental Health and Older Adults Radio Feature
May 19, 2023
Hanna Pryor, Presbyterian Homes and Services (PHS) Support and Services at Home (SASH) Program Director, went on air to advocate for mental health of older adults. The program aired on Friday, February 9th, during the KTIS Morning Show, hosted by Keith Stevens. The brief interview closed out a week-long series by Stevens and KTIS addressing mental health during COVID-19.
Stevens asked, “How do you approach the idea of mental and emotional health with aging family members who are experiencing life changes?”
“Support is the key,” Hanna responded, pointing out the importance of community inherent in senior living to keep older adults connected and engaged. “We’ve seen that people within [PHS] communities have fared better mentally and emotionally because they’ve had, not only the support of their families, but the support of others around them,” she said.
