You’re Beautiful!
Jul 30, 2023
Beauty makes me happy. You’ve heard this phrase: “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” We each see beauty through a different lens: we enjoy our favorite colors, appreciate our favorite meal served beautifully, or remember a classic sports moment: “What a beautiful pitch!”
What about your favorite naturally beautiful place? Maybe you stand amazed at majestic mountains, or relax at ocean waves crashing upon the shore, or sit speechless at the simple beauty of the sunrise or appreciate the beauty of our grounds as you walk the sidewalks. The wonders of the natural world display the wonder of God.
“Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful, for beauty is God’s handwriting.” —Ralph Waldo Emerson
Many enjoy the simple beauty of watching plants/flowers grow throughout the summer. Notice the changes over the weeks, as they soak up the water and fertilizer and sun. See the abundant blooming flowers or harvest’s ripe fruit in the fall. Can we also call character beautiful?
“Beauty has a lot to do with character.” —Kevyn Aucoin
God develops character qualities within us as we grow in faith. They are called the Fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, Galatians 5:22-23). These character qualities make us beautiful from the inside out. Our world is obsessed with outward beauty, but God is concerned about developing our inner beauty. We are never too old to be beautiful. Let your inner beauty shine!
“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.” —Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
